Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a Trainee Law Costs Draftsman to join our established team.

Our Costs team act for a wide variety of clients ranging from large insurers, other law firms, banks, SME’s and litigation funders.

Responsibilities for the role includes:  the preparation of Bills of Costs for Detailed Assessment arising from high value Commercial Litigation and Catastrophic PI (Jackson proof work), as well as Statements of Costs for Summary Assessment and assisting in the drafting of Skeleton Arguments. Other duties will be the negotiation and settlement of legal costs, preparing Points of Dispute and Replies, preparing applications for Interim Costs Certificates, and preparing hearing bundles for Detailed Assessment.

It would be advantageous if you have previous experience in a civil litigation environment and / or an understanding of the civil legal process in England & Wales, however, full training will be provided.  We are interested in finding the right candidate for this role, with an aptitude for and an in interest in learning and developing a career within a busy Costs environment.

Full in-house training will be provided (followed by formal training via the Costs Lawyers Association course). This position has a clear career pathway from Trainee to Director for the right candidate.
